Résumé

Investors' trading activities are influenced by their financial attitudes. Even though existing research has recognized and investigated their relationship, behavioral assessments and financial attitude still poses questions. Furthermore, there is a lack of evidence about the trading activity of retail investors in the instance of a health crisis, like COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of study is to fill in the gaps in the existing literature by studying the relative impact of five dimensions of financial attitude on trading activity of retail investors' during the pandemic. We have used five dimensions to measure financial attitude such as financial anxiety, optimism of investors, financial security, self-control, and the need for precautionary savings. We collected 512 responses from retail investors with the help of a structured questionnaire. We analyzed financial attitude and trading activity using SEM to establish the structural relationship. The observed findings disclosed that self-control is the dominant variable followed by financial security, need for precautionary savings, financial anxiety, and optimism. © 2022, School of Management Sciences. Résumé

The COVID-19 pandemic put a full stop worldwide and brought our lives into an unpredictable situation. All countries started closing their boundaries, and everyone got stuck at home for months of self-quarantined. Because of travel restrictions, all sectors started to suffer, and the tourism industry was one of the hardest hit. However, today, as the globe is opening, the tourism industry is slowly getting back on its feet. As a result, we have proposed an itinerary planning destination ranking tourism analytics framework focused on various tourists' interests in the world-famous tourist destination Varanasi, India, to prepare the itinerary with the new normal conditions in the post-COVID-19 world. The proposed system involves F-TOPSIS and trapezoidal fuzzy numbers as tools. To test the ranking system's robustness, sensitivity analysis was used to examine the rankings evaluated by the designed system. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Résumé

Background: Candida is responsible for roughly 96% of all opportunistic mycoses and is a major cause of bloodstream infections (BSIs). The potential for nosocomial spread of Candidemia infections is a new concern concurrent with the rapid expansion of intensive care facilities for COVID-19 patients. With the pandemic of COVID-19 now moving into 2022, it is understood that critically ill COVID-infected patients in the ICUs are commonly infected with highly resistant bacterial and fungal infections. Objective(s): To estimate the incidence rates and compare the epidemiology of candidemia in COVID infected and non-infected patients requiring ICU care. Methodology: In this 2-year retrospective multicentric study, we present the findings on candidemia from the Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) surveillance network which includes 40 hospitals across India and with special emphasis on differ-ences in the epidemiology of Candidemia in COVID infected and non-infected patients in the pre-COVID (April 2019 to April 2020) and COVID times (April 2020 to April 2021) across this network. We compared the incidence of candidemia between COVID infected and non-infected patients using Poisson regression analysis. Chi-squared (<=2) test was used to test for differ-ences in variables such as gender and 14-day mortality between the patients and Wilcoxon rank-sum (Mann-Whitney) test was used to compare median between the patients. Result(s): A total of 628 patients with candidemia were screened from HAI Surveillance Database where 68 patients are COVID infected and 560 non-infected patients from both pre-COVID and COVID periods. Incidence of Candida-associated BSI increased significantly from 1.47 (95% CI, 1.35-1.60) to 3.08 (95% CI, 2.38-3.92) in non-infected and COVID-infected patients respectively, while in CLABSI the rates increased from 2.62 (95% CI, 2.34-2.92) in non-infected to 5.99 (95% CI, 4.30-8.12) in COVID-infected patients.COVID infected patients in the age group (> 60 years) were significantly more prone to candidemia compared to non-infected patients.During the COVID period, the maximum time for candidemia to develop (from the time of ICU admission) in COVID-infected patients was shorter (< 65 days) than in non-infected patients (> 90 days). Conclusion(s): We observed an increased incidence of candidemia in hospitalized patients during the COVIDperiod compared with the same during the pre-COVID period.

Résumé

Nutritional labelling is the nutritional description of the food on the label to help the consumer in food selection. The present study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude and practices adopted by the subjects and correlate them to have a better understanding of their nutritional background. Nutrition labels are a prominent first-glance article that needs to be very catchy and easy to interpret. The organizations responsible for formulating the rules and regulations must keep them updated and devise new formats of the display to enhance the usage of food labels up to the maximum possible level. A cross-sectional research study on 100 working women of Varanasi, aged between 20-50 years was conducted through a self-structured questionnaire to evaluate their KAP level. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the questionnaire was administered to the respondents through the online medium using Google forms. It can be inferred from the study that 58 % of the total respondents surveyed were aware of the labels, 61% of them had a positive attitude towards its usage but only 52% practised healthy shopping more often. About 70% of the participants preferred back-of-pack labelling rather than front-of-pack because the former provides elaborative information. The factors like qualification and occupation of women participants had negative associations with the satisfaction of the display format. The women having knowledge regarding traffic light labelling showed a positive association with the usefulness of the same. The average practice percentage adopted by the consumers had a negative association with factors like qualification, income, and occupation. The need for simplifying the display format and providing basic nutrition information to the population is highlighted in this study.

Résumé

This work proposes a soft computing-based ranking information system to assess the ranking order of the four pillars of sustainability, i.e. (Economic Sustainability, Environmental Sustainability, Social Sustainability, Cultural Sustainability) regarding community-based tourism. In this work, two groups of experts were involved in assessing linguistic inputs. Further, these linguistic inputs were converted to trapezoidal fuzzy numbers;after that, two soft computing techniques, i.e., F-AHP and F-TOPSIS, were applied to obtain the ranking order of all four pillars of sustainability. Community-based tourism (CBT) promotes local community contribution based on celebrating local cultures to holistic development. As per the CBT objective, it aims to maximize investors' profits and maximize the benefits for community stakeholders. The rankings obtained by the suggested system will be helpful for the government, administrative bodies, and different tour operators for making policies according to the rank of each pillar. The contribution of the research is in the tourism industry. The suggested information system has ranked sustainability factors with the intention that policymakers wil make policies to improve the poorly ranked factors. Résumé

The pharmacotherapy in SARS CoV has been a challenge with respect to pediatric SARS CoV 2 infection. The guidelines evolve each day, however there are limited number of studies and trials in children regarding the drugs available, their dosage and their safety profiles. This review article details the drugs that have been tried against SARS CoV 2 infection from a pediatric perspective. The drugs have been classified into 3 main groups: (i) Drugs with antiviral activity like remedesvir, ivermectin and ribavirin that directly act on the virus affecting viral entry, assembly and replication.(ii) Drugs that are immunomodulators like anakinra and interferons which act upon the immune system to modulate the immune response to the virus (iii) Drugs that mitigate the complications like immunoglobulins, glucocorticoids and anticoagulants like aspirin which act at the cytokine release and in treatment of complications like Pediatric Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome. Pediatric weight loused dosage and safety profiles have been established in other conditions and are being explored in SARS CoV2 infection in these drugs and many drugs are still to establish pediatric doses. (iv) Drugs that have been tried earlier were hydroxychloroquine, lopinavir/ritonavir and azithromycin but have not shown any therapeutic benefit over the course of the pandemic. With the SARS CoV 2 global pandemic causing varied clinical pictures and outcomes in children, that differ from adults, knowledge of the drugs that can be used in children, their safety profile and their dosage is imperative and will guide the way in the future management of pediatric SARS CoV 2 infection.

Résumé

Non-technical summary Many countries are committed to emerge from COVID 19 on a more sustainable environmental footing. Here we explore what such a structurally transformative recovery would mean for the manufacturing sector of 14 major economies. We find that all countries have zero-carbon growth opportunities post-COVID and comparative advantages in some sectors, but industrialised countries and the East Asian economies, especially South Korea, appear best positioned, thanks a push in low-carbon innovation that predates the pandemic.
